Instrumentation for Light Sport Aircraft

In reference to electronic devices (multipurpose functional display, electronic flight information system, engine monitering systems, etc.)

1. Do they have to be a produced to the standard of a Technical Standard Order?

ANSWER: To be eligible for installation on a U.S. registered aircraft, they must have some type of production approval. TSO’s are one such approval. Click on the following link to see the other types of approvals:

2. Can they be imported from foreign countries into U.S?

ANSWER: Yes.

3. Can electronic devices can be imported and used in light sport aircraft if the light sport aircraft manufacturer includes these items in their certification?

ANSWER: Yes.
