Parts Distributor Certification

by Jose Rivas
(Tampa, Fl, USA)

We are not a repair station or maintanance facility. We are just a broker or independent distributor. What kind of certification does the FAA issue to distributors?

ANSWER: The FAA doesn’t issue a certification to distributors. However, the FAA has an Advisory Circular AC00-56A - Voluntary Industry Distributor Accreditation Program.

This advisory circular describes a system for the voluntary accreditation of civil aircraft parts distributors on the basis of voluntary industry oversight and provides information that may be used for developing accreditation programs.

The FAA believes such programs will assist in alleviating lack of documentation and will improve traceability.
