Flight Tests for Certification

by MONFARED
(TEHRAN, IRAN)

What are the flight tests for certification?

ANSWER: There are production flight tests for type certificated aircraft, and flight tests for experimental and amateur built aircraft.

The flight test profile is prepared by the aircraft manufacturer.

The reason for flight testing is to show that the aircraft is controllable throughout its normal range of speeds and all maneuvers to be executed, and does not display any hazardous operating characteristics.

Aircraft clasification in FAR?

ANSWER: The term “classification,” as used with respect to the certification of aircraft, means a broad grouping of aircraft having similar characteristics of propulsion, flight, or landing, that is, airplane, rotorcraft, glider, or balloon.
