Exemptions Shown on an Airworthiness Certificate

How do I know what the exemption listed on my Standard Airworthiness Certificate means?

ANSWER: Regulatory exemptions are given to a production holder on a case by case basis during the original certification process. Those exemptions are listed in the Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS) for your aircraft.

You can search for and download a copy of the TCDS by following the link in our "Reference Links" section of this website.

There is a section of the TCDS titled "Certification Basis." In that section you will find information about the regulatory exemption that is listed on your airworthiness certificate.
