Annual Inspection

by Rene Ariel Romero
(Montevideo, Uruguay)

A single engine aircraft owner has asked me to perform and sign off an annual inspection.

Can I with my A&P certificate complete and sign what he requested?

ANSWER: No. An airframe and powerplant mechanic (A&P) cannot perform or sign off an annual inspection unless that person also holds an Inspection Authorization (IA).

If the aircraft is not a U.S. registered aircraft, then the person performing the inspection would have to meet the requirements of the country of registration.
