ALTIMETER TSO

by HAROLD JOHNSON
(FUQUAY VARINA,NC)

DOES AN ALTIMETER HAVE TO BE TSO'D IN ORDER TO FLY IFR?

ANSWER: Yes, if your aircraft has a standard airworthiness certificate, you must have an FAA approved altimeter installed, and it must be tested and re-certified every 24 months.

A Technical Standard Order (TSO) is the typical way of approving the manufacture of aircraft instruments.
